“But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand.” Isaiah 64:8 ESV
The art program at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic School fosters creativity in its students by teaching skills and techniques aimed at the development of unique personal styles. This is achieved through the teaching of art history, vocabulary, concepts of multiculturalism, form and function. The curriculum involves drawing, painting, and other media while incorporating art forms from varying eras in history. At St. Thomas, the ultimate goal is in helping, encouraging, and challenging each student to reach their artistic potential. These lessons culminate in class, group, and one on one critique where the students are pushed to verbalize their thought process and understand the perspective of their peers. Each day in the adolescent life is a new step in development, so with our art program we place before each child a new tool for expression.
