Religious Formation

Religion is taught from grades PreK2 through 8th Grade. Teachers participate in a program of Catechist Certification offered by the Archdiocese of Miami and attend regular workshops. Students are taught the Christian faith as it is handed down to us by the Roman Catholic Church. For this reason, Sacraments, Morality, Scripture and Church History are a regular part of religious instruction.

Students attend School Mass each Wednesday and on special feast days. Students participate as Altar Servers, Lectors, and in the Choir. Additionally, class masses are held every Friday. During the seasons of Advent and Lent, class masses are scheduled daily. Students are encouraged to participate in the Mass so their experience of the Liturgy will be fully enriched.

First Holy Communion is offered in the 2nd Grade and Confirmation is offered starting from the 6th grade through 8th grade. Students from 3rd through 8th grade go to Confession twice a year during the seasons of Advent and Lent.

Students participate in numerous community service projects throughout the year. Every Thursday night the “Sandwich Gang” meets to make sandwiches for Mother Theresa’s Soup Kitchen. We hold a Thanksgiving Food Drive every year and Christmas Party for the Jackson Memorial Hospital Children’s Cancer Fund. Students wishing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation must complete 30 hours of community service.
