“Bringing an Interest in the Arts to Your Door”
Door to the Arts, Inc. (DTTA) has partnered with St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic School to bring after school introductory arts programs to St. Thomas students. Current DTTA programs include Dance, Music, Painting and Sculpturing, Conversational Spanish, Chess, and Social Skills.
All DTTA programs take place at St. Thomas. DTTA programs offer children a safe and familiar learning environment alongside their schoolmates. DTTA has contracted with some of the best instructors in South Florida to provide this educational experience to the children. All DTTA instructors are Virtus-trained and fingerprinted.
We firmly believe that exposure to the arts helps build discipline and character, and promote creativity. Each DTTA program is designed to enhance students’ awareness and interest in the arts. For example, in the DTTA Dance Program, the DTTA instructors incorporate the history of dance, ballet stories, and music from classical ballets into their classes regularly. We also have a standing relationship with the Miami City Ballet to allow the DTTA students to attend Miami City Ballet performances at well below regular prices. Also, our DTTA music students visit a local sound studio at the end of the year and have their music recorded by a Grammy award winning sound engineer. We are constantly searching for new and innovative ways to enhance students’ exposure to the arts.
Courses are scheduled based on the school calendar and run for the duration of the school year. All courses end with either an end-of year performance, fieldtrip, or exhibition.
